Qualification standards

All current, dues-paid members of the Professional Disc Golf Association (PDGA) are eligible to compete in the 2011 European Open. A passed PDGA officials exam is also mandatory for all players. Tournament has two divisions: MPO and FPO.

Registration will open 15th of February and players are accepted into the tournament with following criteria:

a) Registration by phases

Phase 1
Opens February 15

MPO with rating 975+
FPO with rating 900+
All regardless of rating are allowed to register, but those who do not meet the rating criteria are placed on the waiting list until their phase opens.

Phase 2
Opens March 1
MPO with rating 940+
FPO with rating 825+
Only players from the waiting list who meet the criteria for stage 2 are given a spot. If a stage 1 player registers after this date they will be treated the same as stage 2 players.

Phase 3
Opens April 1

MPO with rating All Players
FPO with rating All Players
Tthe same applies for all players regardless of rating, this means no special treatment for phase 1 or phase 2 players after this date.

So it is ok to register before the phase you belong to opens, you will then be placed on the waiting list until registration for the phase opens. The waiting list is sorted by registration date, not by rating. Important: Do not pay your registration before your spot in the tournament is confirmed.

b) Reserved spots

1. US players
There is a special 20 player quota in European Open, reserved to US players. This quota will be filled as follows:
• Touring card holder registers by April 1st, 2011
• First registered, first paid -basis

2. Japan players
There is a special 5 player quota in European Open, reserved to Japan players. representatives are chosen by The Japan Players Disc Golf Association (JPDGA).

3. Wild Cards
There are 10 Wild Cards to European Open.
Tournament organizer reserves the right to select players based on his/her playing record and/or their contribution to the game.Wild Cards will be given out until June 1st.

c) Other qualifying methods

Qualifying tournament

At least 5 qualifying spots will be handed to players with the best finishes at the "warm-up" competition, that is held at Nokia on 9th thru 10th of July. More info about the qualifying competition at the European Open blog.

Entry fee

An entry fee of 100 euros shall be paid by every player. Players registration is complete only after payment. All tournament spots will be filled on a first paid first served basis.

All confirmed spots should be paid in full by June 13th. If a payment from a player that has confirmed it's spot is not made by the end of May, his / her spot will be given to a player in the waiting list. More info at the European Open blog.

After the cut, the players elevated from the waiting list will have until end of June to fulfill their payments in order to earn a spot in the tournament. Players lifted from the waiting list after the end of May have time until the end of June to fulfill the payment.

Entry fees won't be refunded if a player cancels his/her participation after 10th of July.
