Captain candidates for Team USA
Avery Jenkins
Avery Jenkins is a true Presidents Cup veteran – he has been part of the Team USA six times out of eight and steered his team to victory as the Team Captain in 2013. The 2009 Disc Golf World Champion will be attending his 10th European Open since his first appearance in the event in 2006. The iconic disc golf ambassador can be seen touring all around the world playing tournaments, collecting disc golf courses and instructing developing players. He’s looking forward to leading Team USA to victory at the 2022 Presidents Cup!
Nathan Sexton
Nathan Sexton is no rookie when it comes to Presidents Cup and being a leader. The 2017 US Champion was part of the team that brought victory to the USA in the same year. He was the captain in 2019 with another win. Stepping into the role of the Team USA captain would be natural for the Innova Champion Discs Team Captain.
Gregg Barsby
Gregg Barsby, 2018 World Champion, four time European Open contender, runner-up in 2017 European Open and a blatantly great disc golf personality. He would be happy to lead Team USA this year.
Jeremy Koling
Jeremy Koling is a familiar face to all of us on and off the course and he’s one of those players whose positivity shines bright. As a 2016 United States Disc Golf Champion he would be a natural captain for Team USA.
Philo Brathwaite
Mr. Albatross. Philo Brathwaite tossed that famous albatross in 2016 Beaver State Fling. He is a very well known disc golfer all around the globe and a distinguished member of the community. He’s ready to lead Team USA to victory.
Captain candidates for Team Europe
Janne Hirsimäki
Janne Hirsimäki is well known as an uncanny team player and for his ever positive demeanour. He was the captain of Team Europe in 2019. The two-time Finnish Doubles Champion and European championships silver medalist has natural talent to inspire his teammates to reach new heights.
Pasi Koivu
Pasi Koivu is a two-time Finnish Champion. His calmness and poise on and off the course are well known all around the disc golf community. He is always ready and willing to step up for the team. And this time for Team Europe.
Karl Johan Nybo
The Legendary Dane. KJ Nybo is a fiercely competitive disc golfer. 13-time Danish Champion and 8-time European Open contender are among his numerous achievements.
This year he went to the Memorial Championship in Arizona and beat a hefty bunch of other legends to win the masters division. He is willing to give his champion stance for Team Europe.
Christian Plaue
Christian Plaue is a German long time disc golfer. He has been playing competitively for 17 years and this year is his 5th time in the European Open. This classy player would lead Team Europe with a verve and high standards.
